The annual statement (AFSS): what Pump House builds, what the AI never does
Who this is for: the accredited person who reviews and signs statements, and coordinators tracking them.
An annual fire safety statement (AFSS) is the yearly document, signed by an accredited practitioner, that says each fire safety measure at the building has been checked and performs to the required standard. Pump House assembles the statement from the inspection data your technician captured, so you review and issue it instead of typing it up.
What the AI does, and what it never does
The AI's job is assembly: it fills the draft statement from the inspection data recorded on the job. Three things are deliberate and fixed:
- The wording of standard clauses is copied word for word from a stored copy of the AS1851 text. It is never written or reworded by AI.
- The AI never invents an inspection result. If the data is not there, it is not in the statement.
- The software never signs anything and never lodges anything with any authority. Signing is yours.
Reviewing and acknowledging
Before a statement can be finalised, the accredited person opens the review screen and reads the assembled statement. You will then be asked to acknowledge, with a button labelled "i acknowledge". In plain words, the acknowledgement you are agreeing to says:
- You, the accredited person signing the statement, are the certifier responsible for its accuracy and completeness. Pump House does not certify it and does not check it against any authority.
- Pump House does not lodge or send the statement to any authority. Issuing it, and meeting your deadlines, is your responsibility.
- Any licence or accreditation number printed on the statement is stored exactly as you entered it and has not been verified. Check it is current before you sign.
- Clicking "i acknowledge" records that you read this exact version of the statement. If the statement template is updated before you finalise, you will be asked to acknowledge again.
Once you have acknowledged, the statement is finalised and sent from the Send report screen. Article 9 walks through that end to end, including what finalising locks.
